Fishing
With many rivers and tranquil lakes near by, we are a great destination for fishermen and women. Fly fishing for Trout in the local rivers and coarse fishing for Pike and Sandre in the lakes. We can arrange for your fishing permits where appropriate with sufficient notice (and fee, currently around 20 euros and a passport photo is required in advance - Contact us for details), and we'll even take you to the lake and bring you back so you can enjoy a glass of wine or 3 whilst fishing. There is a barbeque available for those who wish to cook their own catch!

Cycling
If you like hills then this location is ideal. Mazamet was host to one of the Tour de France 2007 stages. However there are some dedicated cycleways on old railway tracks that are less strenuous for those who like to stay awake in the evening after a days cycling. We can arrange cycle hire in Mazamet. We can also drop off and pick up cyclists and 2 bikes.

Walking
Walk out of the front door, turn right, 100metres up the hill and you are into the forests of the Montagne Noire. There are also walks around the local lakes and along the valleys of the river Arn and its Gorges and the river Thoré.

Horse Riding
There are several stables and centres within 10 minutes drive offering lessons with qualified instructors, guided rides and day courses in the winter longer courses in the summer also a possibility to hire ponies and donkeys for trekking. It is advisable to book well in advance with deposits.We will delighted to help make the arrangements.

Canyoning/climbing
If you enjoy more extreme sports then the area is well suited to this. If like most of us you need some help then there are qualified instructors locally.

Swimming/ watersports
Le Lac des Montagnes is about 5 miles(8Km) away, with about 10 acres of water has a sandy beach with monitored swimming during July and August, water games, a jetty suitable for disabled swimmers. Also there are restaurants, bars, mini golf, mountain bike circuits and footpaths.
Mazamet has an indoor pool and an olympic sized outdoor pool. Castres (20 min drive) has the Archipel swimming pools, water slides and skating.

Seaside
If you fancy a trip to the Mediterranean sea the nearest beach is at Valras-Plage about 90 mins away. You will be glad to return to the cooler air of the Tarn! The whole of the coast between Narbonne Plage and Cap D'Agde is within 2 hours.If you come to us without your own transport we can arrange car hire or an escorted days excursion.

Other destinations for day trips might include the Spanish border at Le Perthus and La Jonquera about 2 hours away or Andorra ( tax free shopping outside the EU) about 3 hours away.

Skiing
The nearest ski resort is Formigueres (about 2 hours away) offering 17 pistes ranging from a black run through to green runs. There are also a snow park and ski schools. We can arrange transport and picnic lunches for those who want to ski.

Andorra
The nearest tax free shopping destination but please remember that it is not part of the European Union and therefore there are limits to how much you can buy.
